Who runs this site
Rainbow Paw Video is the home of Rainbow Paw, a browser tool that turns one photo of a pet into a ten-second AI memorial video with soft music. The site is built and maintained by Shangyi Duan, an independent developer, who wrote the prompts, the page copy and the code in this repository. There is no agency or content farm behind it.
Why it exists
Most of us have thousands of photos of a dog or cat and none of them move. Upload one photo, choose a peaceful scene — Rainbow Bridge, Sunny Window, Starlit Sky or Día de Muertos — and see them breathe, blink and wag again, with soft music, ready to keep and share. The site exists because the last photos people have of a pet are often stills, and a short, quiet video is easier to send to the family on the day, to loop at a small memorial, or to keep on a phone.
How it works, and where the numbers come from
Every tribute starts with the visitor’s own photo. A still preview is painted first, and only then, if credits have been bought, is it turned into a moving clip. Before anything is generated, the upload passes an automated safety check — animals only, no people, no graphic content — and the check runs first on purpose: if it cannot run, nothing is generated.
The still is painted by fal.ai’s nano-banana edit model from a scene prompt that asks it to keep the breed, coat colours, markings and face. The movement is made by Wan 3.0 image-to-video from that still, with a matching sound prompt, a 10-second duration and either 720p or 1080p output. Credits are sold one pack at a time through Dodo Payments — $9.99 for 2 credits, $19.99 for 5 credits, $39.99 for 12 — and a standard 720p video costs 1 credit while an HD 1080p video costs 2, so the smallest pack is one HD video or two standard ones. Each visitor gets three previews a day without paying, and the site pauses previews after 150 in a day. No account is needed. Generated files are kept for up to 7 days so they can be downloaded, then deleted, and photos are never used to train models.
The exact steps, the files that hold these numbers and the limits of the method are on the methodology page.
What this site is not
Rainbow Paw is not a recording of your pet and does not restore old footage. Each video is an artistic interpretation of one photo: a wiry coat can come out smoother, a small or blurry face gives a looser likeness, and an unusual marking can drift. It is not a veterinary, counselling or funeral service, and it does not ship physical keepsakes. It is an independent site: no animal hospital, crematory, rescue or memorial vendor runs it or endorses it. It also does not quote customers: there are no testimonials, ratings or review scores on this site, because we do not collect them. The comparison page lists seven other tools and notes where some are stronger than us — we make Rainbow Paw, so read it knowing that.
Corrections and contact
If a price, a claim about a scene or another tool’s details are wrong on this site, tell us and the page is fixed and the change logged. Every correction is listed with the date, the page and the evidence on the corrections page. To reach a person, use the contact page or write to support@tattoofromphoto.ink; the privacy policy says what is stored and for how long.
